THE CHALLENGE

The AI Adoption Arms Race is well and truly underway. It’s the buzz word for trending Youtube videos and tech conferences, and when the US government is making deals for AI investment, you know it’s not going anywhere soon.

But how many of the over-night start-ups and viral apps are just a pretty UI on functionality inbuilt to ChatGPT? Or worse, a novelty app you’ll use for a day and then forget about until you have to clear space on your phone?

It’s in the name, for something to be valuable, it has to have value.

At InfoCentric, our value comes from our people. We’re a Data Consultancy working with some of Australia’s largest clients, and our Consultants are specialists in what they do.

When we’re having conversations with our Clients, before we start any work, we often present them with a profiles of the Consultants who will be working on that project. These profiles highlight their skills, relevant experience, education, certifications and a synopsis about them. These profiles highlight the value our Consultants will provide.

Does this kind of sound like a CV? It’s a lot like a CV.

They’re InfoCentric branded, have a specific format and template they follow and are customised to highlight relevancy for specific projects. We often use our Consultant’s personal CVs to create their InfoCentric profile, so there can often be a lot of similarities.

If you’ve ever written a CV before, you know how tedious and time consuming they can be. Depending on what we were working with, it could take up to 2 hours to make each profile. And we could be making multiple a day.

For us, these profiles are business critical. But having a way that’s easier or more time efficient would add value to us as a business and to our time-poor Consultants.

OUR APPROACH

So that’s what we set out to achieve, a Generative AI tool that would actually be useful.

  1. We tweaked the existing template we were already using
  2. We leveraged Google Gemini for it’s Large Language Model
  3. We used Streamlit to easily and quickly build a versatile web app
  4. We hosted it in a secure Azure environment so no personal data went out into the wild

We researched, planned, prototyped and iterated. With so many tools in the market, we spent hours looking at what would be best for us. Just like what we do with our clients, we chose to use what would work best, not just right now, but for our long term plans.

KEY OUTCOMES

We built the tool so that we could upload an original, personal CV of one of our Consultants and within seconds, output an InfoCentric profile. We could ask Gemini to add in experience they had gained since they last updated their CV and could write the synopsis that would highlight key skills and experience for the specific project that Consultant would be working on.

While yes, we still proof read each profile for clarity and quality, it saved us hours of time and incalculable quantities of frustration from doing them manually. We built a Generative AI tool that had real, ongoing value.

GenAI isn’t going to replace any of our Consultants’ jobs, but it is giving them back time to do the things they do best. If you want to find out how you can leverage AI to have real value for you and your team, reach out and have a chat with us.
