Client Story:
How a Government Authority Transformed its Business Model to become an Intelligence Led Regulator using Snowflake.
THE CONTEXT
This government authority is responsible for regulatory compliance across an industry segment that is often in the public spotlight. The authority has significant government powers to ensure the integrity, safety and fairness of all constituents of this industry segment.
A key driver for this data transformation program was enabling the Authority to support regulatory reform and leverage deeper insights with the ultimate goal of becoming an intelligence-led regulator.
OUR BRIEF
Given InfoCentric’s deep experience in regulatory and compliance driven programs, we were appointed by the Authority as its data and analytics partner, and tasked with reviewing and setting the data strategy, evaluating and architecting the data solution(s) required to support the strategy and roadmap, and then working closely with the Authority’s data team, to build and deploy the enterprise data platform across the organisation.
DATA STRATEGY
Our first engagement was to define their strategy and vision, determine which strategic approach to adopt, and develop a transformation roadmap to uplift the capabilities of the organisation. This engagement led to a prioritised list of initiatives and business use cases that would serve as milestones for implementation. We also recommended that they create a “centre of excellence” within the organisation which brought in technical and business users to work alongside each other to develop advanced analytics and AI capabilities.
PLATFORM IMPLEMENTATION
In the second phase, we focused on finalisation of detailed requirements, design of a future state architecture for the enterprise data platform that would modernise the Authority’s platforms and operations, and build of the key architecture components to ingest source data provided by a variety of industry operators. The core platform was built on Snowflake, which provided enterprise scalability, comprehensive security, AI enabled capabilities and data sharing functionality.
This engagement covered establishment of a data model, ingestion pipelines, transformation of data across the raw, integrated, and reporting data stores, and creation of automated Power BI-based reports and dashboards.
KEY OUTCOMES
The program enabled a number of key business and technology outcomes to be realised, including:
- A data strategy with associated roadmap identifying a value driven approach to building capabilities and aligning to the overall goal of becoming an intelligence driven regulator;
- A clear assessment of the Authority’s relevant and aspirational data maturity and operating model;
- Design and implementation of a scalable, secure and robust enterprise data platform to meet the current and future needs of the Authority;
- Provision of an analytics platform that would cater for the growing data volumes and different data types (eg. unstructured data) as the Authority collects and analyses more diverse data sources;
- A comprehensive and easy to use reporting and analytics environment to ensure business consumers can easily access relevant insights and data; and
- Implementation of an AI enabled platform that will support emerging AI requirements and capabilities.
