Our Information Management Maturity Assessment: The Basics

Our Information Management Maturity Assessment: The Basics

Our Information Management Maturity Assessment is a unique way to assess your current information management practices. It is tried and tested with demonstrated results in maturity increases for clients across a range of industries.

Falling under our Advisory Services practice, our assessment framework provides the foundation for a robust information management strategy, roadmap and operating model.

In this article we’re sharing how we assess the maturity of our client’s current information management capability using our assessment framework.

What is our information management assessment framework?

Our first step is to scope the stakeholders and key areas of concern across our thirteen information management and data governance activities. We then work with each stakeholder, typically a BU leader and their data SMEs, to understand their short and long term goals.

With each business unit, we workshop current and target state maturity for each activity. This helps to surface information risks, opportunities, threats and weaknesses. We assess against a maturity scale for each area of information management and can provide detailed guidance across business units, across each activity, and against benchmarks.

By aggregating and thoroughly assessing these results and other key artefacts, we can set maturity goals, a roadmap and a strategic information management framework to help support your organisation’s next steps.

Working in collaboration with clients’ goals:

Our maturity framework is based on a firm belief that data and information are critical components of your organisation’s success. Our assessment is designed to help underpin your business strategy, improve business operations and minimise the costs and risks of holding data. We avoid governance for the sake of it.

What we assess:

Our framework allows us to assess a wide spectrum of your information management and data governance program. Some of the areas we assess include:

  • Data governance strategy and operating model
  • Data quality and confidence
  • Information privacy and literacy
  • Data definitions
  • Data ownership
  • Information and data lifecycle management (including timely disposal of data)

Our tailored approach and unique IP:

Our practical approach and unique IP allows us to quickly identify gaps in your data governance program and accelerate you forward. Our experts can help you identify your dormant capabilities, as well as highlighting any immediate risks to your business.

InfoCentric can also provide scanning of your information and data environments to detect sensitive data (Personal, Credit and Health Identifiable Information) wherever it’s stored. This provides immediate ability to reduce your information exposure, and provides valuable inputs into the information management and data governance strategy.

How can we help you?

Our unique approach to assessing information management maturity has helped a range of clients, including ASX and globally-listed organisations. We’ve helped CIOs, CDOs, Data Heads and other information leaders across Finance, Utilities, Sport, Healthcare and more.

Our work is tailored to your specific needs, allowing you to navigate a pragmatic roadmap towards information maturity – lower cost, reduced risk, improved performance and deeper insights.
